Automotive Interior Repairs and stain removal

October 3rd, 2008

Stains in automotive carpet can be very difficult to get out, even though automotive carpet is made of a synthetic material and resists some staining all stains should be treated. The question most asked is how do I get those ugly black, brown and sometimes red stains out of my cars carpeting.

The trick is to, and, it’s not even a trick, it’s in the timing, and it dosen’t matter what kind of stain it is, but how soon you treat it and the knowledge of what to do, how to do it and what you use. Getting to a spill before it soaks in is your best  defence against having a stain in your carpet. If you spill something on your carpet wipe it and soak it up as soon as possible with old rags, towels ,paper towels or what ever you have available. Then flush it with clean water and wipe and soak up the water with clean rags or towels. But thats not always the case and thats where this little guide will help you. But really, if you can wipe up the stain as soon as possible it will be a great help in getting the stain out later when you have more time.

Convertible Top Maintenance

September 11th, 2008

There’s been a lot of conversation going around of late about what to do about maintaining your convertible top. I love convertible’s. I had a couple of them, I also had a couple T top Mustang’s, a 84′ GT 350 and a 88′ GT I had alot of fun with both of them what great cars, the GT 350 I rebuilt the engine, all new exhaust, brakes, suspension, tires. The GT350 had those metric wheels on it so tire selection was very limited. But we were talking about maintenance on your convertible top.

My convertible had a white top , talk about keeping it clean, what a job! I lived in the city too. But I found that by washing it at least once a week helped a great deal. What I would do is wash the car, after washing the car I would scrub the top with a soft bristled brush and mild bar soap, rinse, and while it was still wet rub the bar soap in to the top and let dry so the soap would fill the pores of the top. Then the next time you washed it with the brush the dirt washed right out, then repeat. I didn’t like the harsh chemicals at the time and this worked. Chemicals today have be come less harsh and more top friendly.
For those of you with older tops, showing a little ware or a little sun bleached and dirty, try painting it. Automotive paint manufacturers make paint for tops to bring them back to life. When I painted my top I was always asked if I got a new top. It’s easy and inexpensive. Just make sure you mask it off properly , it’ll make your car look and feel like new.

Fords 4.0 v6 mustang can be a muscle car and a looker too

July 10th, 2008

No it won’t run with the big v8’s but it’ll put a few extra steps in your stride and get your blood pumping a little more. I’m talking about ford racings kits for the ford mustang 4.0 v6 which will add a few extra horse power, a better ride and handing, and a dress up kit for looks and show. Ford Racing understands that it’s affordability in the purchase price, fuel ecomomy, and insurance costs makes the v6 a lot more attractive to alot of people. however within that group of v6 owners, there are some that, yet thrifty still do not want a Oh Hum, [yawn] car. In steps ford racing with its FRPP fr1 power up grade package number 1, the package lists for about $1,049 includes a cold air intake kit, a stainless steel after-cat full dual exhaust w/ X pipe cross over, and a performance recalibration [for manual or automatic transmission applications].

The handling package, FRPP FR3 for about $1,199 includes lower springs, upgraded struts and shocks, heavier sway bars and a strut tower brace. You can buy all these parts separately, however, not recommended youll never match the package price. Best of all both kits are covered by a three year/ 36000-mile warranty when installed by a Ford dealership.

The exterior package is offered by Ford Accessories Group as a retail package for about $2,395. that includes, matte-black chin and rear spoilers, hood scope and stripe; the black out taillight panel between the taillights, polished grille, and 18-inch polished rims. If your going to be buying a new mustang v6 4.0, ask about this package from the factory.

Word has it you’ll be impressed by the performance and feel of the v6 over the stock v6 4.0 liter. It’s more responsive, better balanced, better sound and better looking, something you’ll be proud to own, drive and have fun with.

fox body mustang window weather stripping

July 3rd, 2008

Have you ever been out driving with a someone and trying to have a conversation or just trying to listen to your new sound system and wind noise just becomes so loud you can’t hear? OK , it’s bad when the window’s are down, but when the window’s are up it becomes irritating. If your experiencing this problem with your ‘83-’93 mustang convertible or ‘82-’88 T-top, look up Fox Mustang Restoration’s new window run channels. Made from Ford’s tooling. These weather strip channels install and look like factory. The 4 piece kit will complete the T-top weather strip kit. We must preserve the Fox body T-Top Mustangs, because we won’t be seeing any factory T-Top Mustangs any time soon.
